Woman seriously injured in water dispute attack in Murree

RAWALPINDI, Jul 18 (APP):A man was arrested within hours after allegedly attacking a woman with a dagger over a water dispute in the jurisdiction of Phagwari Police Station in Murree, police said on Saturday.
According to official, the incident occurred in Dhoke Bandi village, where the suspect allegedly stabbed a woman following an altercation over the distribution of water.
The victim sustained multiple injuries and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
Taking notice of the incident, Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi directed the authorities to ensure immediate action and the arrest of the accused.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Raza Tanveer Sapra, also ordered prompt registration of a criminal case and supervised the investigation.
Police registered FIR No. 93/26 under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (attempt to commit murder) at Phagwari Police Station.
On the instructions of the DPO, a special police team headed by the Station House Officer (SHO) conducted a swift operation and arrested the suspect, identified as Ishtehaq, son of Riaz, a resident of Dhoke Bandi in Lower Deval, Murree.
The injured woman, identified as Nabeela Nisar, wife of Abdul Qadeer and a resident of Dhoke Bandi, suffered serious injuries to her arm, fingers and other parts of her body after being attacked with the dagger.
She was immediately shifted to a hospital, where she is receiving medical treatment.
District administration and police officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensure the safety of women across the district, stating that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to take the law into their own hands.
