MUZAFFARGARH, Jul 18 (APP): Rescue 1122 successfully contained a major fire that broke out at Fazal Textile Mill on Jhang Road on Saturday, while a mill firefighter who lost consciousness after inhaling smoke was shifted to hospital.
According to Rescue 1122, the fire erupted in the atomizer/balancer machine of the cotton processing unit (Unit No. 10), apparently due to an electrical short circuit.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene with two fire tenders, six rescue vehicles and a motorcycle ambulance. District Emergency Officer Engineer Muhammad Ubaidullah Khan supervised the operation as the affected unit was cordoned off and firefighters battled the blaze under heavy smoke while observing safety protocols.
During the operation, a mill firefighter fell unconscious after inhaling smoke. Rescue personnel administered first aid before shifting him to Social Security Hospital, Muzaffargarh, for treatment.
Rescue officials said the fire was brought under control after 30 minutes of firefighting, followed by one hour and 10 minutes of cooling operations.
The blaze damaged about 5,445 square feet (around 20 marlas) of the factory premises. However, the timely response by Rescue 1122 prevented it from spreading to other sections of the mill.
No fatalities were reported, and the rescue operation was completed successfully, officials added.
