Two armed suspects arrested after firing at police party in Gujar Khan

RAWALPINDI, Jul 18 (APP): Two armed suspects riding a motorcycle were arrested after allegedly opening fire on a Dolphin Police team in the Gujar Khan area of Rawalpindi, while one of the suspects sustained injuries during the exchange of fire, police said on Saturday.
According to a police spokesman, the incident occurred when a Dolphin Police on patrolling signaled to stop two suspicious motorcyclists for routine checking.
Instead of complying with the police signal, the suspects allegedly opened fire in an attempt to evade arrest.
The Dolphin team responded promptly and, despite coming under fire, overpowered and arrested both suspects.
One of the accused, identified as Sami, sustained injuries during the encounter, while the other suspect was identified as Naveed.
Police recovered weapons and the motorcycle used by the suspects during the operation. The injured suspect was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Senior police officers rushed to the scene soon after being informed of the incident and supervised the operation.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera praised the Dolphin Police team for displaying courage and professionalism in confronting the armed suspects.
“Those who attack innocent citizens or police personnel cannot evade the law and will be brought to justice,” the CPO said.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the suspects’ involvement in other criminal activities, the police spokesman added.
