Court Initiates Proclaimed Offender Proceedings Against KP CM Adviser, PTI Leaders in Nov 26 Protest Case

ISLAMABAD, Jul 17 (APP): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday initiated proclaimed offender proceedings against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Adviser Sohail Afridi, PTI leader Junaid Akbar and Abdul Ghani Afridi over their continued non-appearance despite repeated summons in a case related to the November 26 protest.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra passed the order while hearing the case.
During the proceedings, police submitted a progress report in connection with the FIR registered at Margalla Police Station over the November 26 incidents.
According to the report submitted by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Police, non-bailable arrest warrants had been obtained against the accused in compliance with the court’s order dated June 23, 2026.
The report stated that despite repeated efforts, the warrants could not be executed, prompting the initiation of proclaimed offender proceedings in accordance with the law.
It further informed the court that, following completion of the proclaimed offender process, preparation of the police report (challan) under Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure had reached its final stage and would be submitted before the court upon completion.
The police maintained that no negligence, delay or lack of effort had occurred at any stage of the investigation or legal proceedings.
The court, noting the accused’s persistent absence, ordered the initiation of proclaimed offender proceedings and adjourned the hearing until September 9.
