Labour department expands education opportunities for workers’ children

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Faisal Khan Tarakai on Friday said the provincial government was taking practical steps to expand educational opportunities for the children of registered workers through scholarships and professional training programmes.

PESHAWAR, Jul 17 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Faisal Khan Tarakai on Friday said the provincial government was taking practical steps to expand educational opportunities for the children of registered workers through scholarships and professional training programmes.
He said the Labour Department was sending five students, children of registered workers, to some of the world’s leading universities for higher education under the Labour Department Scholarship Programme. One of the selected students belongs to Nowshera district.
The minister said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to investing in human capital and ensuring that talented students from working-class families had access to quality education at internationally recognized institutions.
He said the provincial government was also focusing on preparing the children of workers for leadership roles in the public sector.
Under the programme, 50 children of registered workers would receive specialized training at the Civil Services Academy to prepare for competitive and government examinations.
Faisal Khan Tarakai said the training would help participants improve their academic and professional skills, enabling them to compete for positions in the country’s civil services and other prestigious public sector institutions.
He said the government believed education was the most effective tool for social mobility and economic empowerment, adding that the Labour Department would continue to introduce welfare initiatives aimed at improving the educational and professional prospects of workers’ families.
The minister reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to the welfare of registered workers and said more initiatives would be introduced to promote education, skills development, and equal opportunities for their children.
