SCCI elections schedule for 2026-28 announced, appointment of three members’ election commission approved

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday announced elections scheduled for 2026-28.

PESHAWAR, Jul 15 (APP): Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday announced elections scheduled for 2026-28.
The election schedule was approved under Trade Organisations Rules and Chamber Article of Association during a meeting of the chamber’s executive committee, chaired by President Junaid Altaf, said in a press release here.
According to details, the election schedule for 2026-28 was presented by Secretary General Muqtasid Ahsan.
Under the Trade Organisations Rules and Chamber Article of Association, the SCCI’s executive committee unanimously endorsed the proposed names of Malik Niaz Ahmad, Haris Mufti and Shuja Muhammad as members of the election commission.
As per the schedule, election for the 22 members of the executive committee of the SCCI will be held on Sept 17, while polling for the post of president, senior vice president and vice president will be conducted on Sept 22.
The new body will take charge on October 01, 2026 after the general body meeting.
The scrutiny of notation papers and display of candidates list will be carried out on Aug 26 while any objection against the nomination papers will be filed till Aug 27. Objections on the nomination if any will be addressed till Sept 1,
According to the schedule, the nomination papers will be withdrawn till Sept 11. The final list of candidates will be displayed on Sept 12.
Earlier, President Junaid Altaf apprised the meeting of the recently successful SCCI-hosted Business Excellence Award and Investment 2026.
He said the SCCI would continue efforts for strengthening of Pak-Uzbek bilateral trade and economic relations.
The SCCI chief appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee for the successful holding of the Business Excellence Award and Investment Conference 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The executive committee congratulated the senior executive member, former senior vice president Zaiul Haq Sarhadi for honouring him with Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government on meritorious services.
On the occasion, SCCI chief Junaid Altaf presented a souvenir to the senior executive member Zial Haq Sarhadi.
Mr Sarhadi also spoke on the occasion and thanked the SCCI leadership and executive committee for giving respect to him and stated that awarding Sitara-e-Imtiaz a collective victory and honor for the whole business community.
