RAWALPINDI, Jul 14 (APP): A local court on Tuesday sentenced a drug smuggler to nine years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 80,000.0.
The convict, Sher Alam, was found guilty of possessing and smuggling narcotics. According to the prosecution, the Chaklala Police had arrested Alam in January 2023 after recovering 1.2 kilograms of hashish (charas) from his possession.
A spokesperson for the Rawalpindi Police stated that the court handed down the sentence after the prosecution presented solid forensic and circumstantial evidence, demonstrating the department’s dedication to effective policing.
The spokesperson emphasized that the district police are utilizing all available resources and taking strict measures to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking from society.
