MD WASA Orders Strict Vigilance on Manhole Cover Survey

Managing Director(MD) Water and Sanitation Agency(WASA) Lahore, Ghafran Ahmed, on Tuesday directed teams conducting the citywide survey of manhole covers to submit their progress reports daily, warning that any negligence or laxity in the matter will not be tolerated.

LAHORE, Jul 14 (APP): Managing Director(MD) Water and Sanitation Agency(WASA) Lahore, Ghafran Ahmed, on Tuesday directed teams conducting the citywide survey of manhole covers to submit their progress reports daily, warning that any negligence or laxity in the matter will not be tolerated. The directives were issued during an important meeting chaired by the MD WASA, Ghafran Ahmed, to review revenue recovery, monsoon preparedness and other operational matters. The meeting was held as part of ongoing efforts to improve civic services and institutional performance in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister(CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The meeting conducted a detailed review of revenue performance and the recovery of outstanding dues.
The MD instructed officials to continue effective action against defaulters under a zero-tolerance policy and ensure 100 percent recovery across all towns. He also ordered the implementation of an effective monitoring system to achieve revenue targets. Reviewing monsoon arrangements, MD Ghafran directed officials to maintain continuous monitoring of waterlogging-prone areas during rainfall. He instructed field teams to remove floating material from all drains and ensure the immediate cleaning of gratings after every rain spell to facilitate smooth drainage.
The MD further emphasized that all public complaints should be addressed on a priority basis to provide timely relief and improve service delivery for citizens. He reiterated that strict vigilance would be maintained over the manhole cover survey and that no negligence in ensuring public safety would be accepted.
