Deputy Senate chairman welcomes OIC delegates for women’s conference

Deputy Chairman of the Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar, on Sunday welcomed delegates of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Pakistan for the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, expressing hope that the gathering would strengthen cooperation among member states.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 12 (APP): Deputy Chairman of the Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar, on Sunday welcomed delegates of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Pakistan for the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, expressing hope that the gathering would strengthen cooperation among member states.
In a statement, he said Pakistan was honoured to host representatives from across the Muslim world for the conference, which is being held under the theme, “The Social, Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC Countries: Challenges and the Way Forward.”
He said the conference highlights the shared commitment of OIC member countries to advancing women’s empowerment by improving access to education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, technology and leadership.
He added that it also aims to increase women’s participation in social, economic and political development.
He said Pakistan was proud to assume the chairmanship of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women for the next two years.
He described it as both an important responsibility and an opportunity to deepen cooperation among OIC member states.
He expressed confidence that the conference would produce meaningful recommendations and adopt the Islamabad Declaration, which would serve as a roadmap for inclusive and sustainable development and the greater empowerment of women across the Muslim world.
The deputy chairman reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, unity, mutual respect and shared progress within the OIC, and wished the conference a successful outcome.
