RAWALPINDI, Jul 12 (APP): The historic Raja Bazar has undergone a complete infrastructure transformation under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, turning the city’s oldest and busiest commercial center into a modern and organized trade hub.
The development project, under the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz has upgraded roads, footpaths, pedestrian walkways, and drainage systems, significantly resolving long awaited issues of traffic congestion, encroachments and overcrowding to boost local economic activities.
Not only modernization, the beautification and cleanliness under CM’s Suthra Punjab, have collectively changed Raja Bazar outlook.
 The business community and local citizens welcomed the development, noting that the clean environment and wider passages have restored consumer confidence and facilitated smoother movement for thousands of daily visitors.
Talking to APP, shoppers and local stakeholders expressed satisfaction over the upgraded facilities. Bilal, a frequent buyer at the market, said that the newly widened walkways and organized pathways have made the shopping experience much less stressful for families compared to the previous chaotic conditions.
A female shopper, Uzma Tahir, shared that the removal of encroachments and cleaner environment now allow women to navigate the bustling market with significantly more ease and safety.
Abdul Aziz, a marketer and vendor in the area, remarked that the modern drainage infrastructure and cleared roads have already started attracting higher footfall, which is highly beneficial for the local retail economy.
However, local traders emphasized that the construction of modern parking plazas in Raja Bazar and its adjacent areas is indispensable to permanently resolve the traffic issues. They cautioned that a lack of adequate parking facilities could reduce customer footfall, potentially impacting commercial operations in the long run.
