Man arrested for impersonating government official

SARGODHA, Jul 12 (APP): Jhal Chakian Police arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a government official and illegally using an official number plate and a blue emergency flasher on his vehicle during a crackdown on criminal elements.

Police said on Sunday that, acting on the directives of the District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha, the team intercepted a suspicious vehicle at a checkpoint. The vehicle was fitted with an official number plate, tinted windows and a blue emergency flasher mounted on its roof.

The suspect, identified as Ali Nawaz, allegedly claimed to be a senior government official. However, when asked to produce his official identification and other relevant documents, he failed to provide proof of his identity or explain his claims.

Police took the suspect into custody and registered a case against him. Further investigation was underway.
