FAISALABAD, Jul 11 (APP): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in collaboration with Jawad Sports and Cultural Complex, has launched the J-Tex Club Cricket T20 Knockout Tournament to promote grassroots cricket and identify emerging talent in Faisalabad.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jawad Sports and Cultural Complex Sheikh Jawad Afzal formally inaugurated the tournament while General Manager Mian Nadeem Ashraf Advocate, District Cricket Association President Ejaz Farooq and officials Naveed Nazir, Mian Kashif Fareed, Adnan Anwar, Muhammad Aslam and Tariq Fareed were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Jawad Afzal said that the tournament was being organized in collaboration with Pakistan Cricket Board to promote cricket in Faisalabad and provide a pathway for talented youngsters to showcase their abilities.
He said that primary objective of the tournament is to provide a competitive platform for talented young cricketers and help identify promising players capable of progressing to higher levels of the game.
The event had been arranged without charging any entry fee from participating clubs, ensuring equal opportunities for players from all backgrounds to compete and demonstrate their cricketing potential, he added.
He said that total 82 registered cricket clubs from Faisalabad district are participating in the knockout competition, making it one of the largest club-level cricket events in the region.
He announced a cash prize of Rs200,000 for the championship-winning team while the runners-up would receive Rs150,000. Similarly, attractive cash awards worth hundreds of thousands of rupees have been allocated for the “Player of the Tournament”, “Best Bowler” and other outstanding performers, he added.
He expressed confidence that the tournament would play a significant role in strengthening the district’s cricket structure and producing future stars for domestic and national cricket.
The event has also attracted the participation of national cricketers Abdul Samad, Asif Ali and Irfan Niazi, adding further excitement and competitive value to the tournament while offering aspiring players an opportunity to compete alongside experienced professionals.
