PHF names 18-member women teams for int’l tournaments

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the 18-member National Women’s Under-21 and Youth Under-18 Hockey 5-a-side team for the upcoming international tournaments in Muscat, Oman.

ISLAMABAD, Jul 10 (APP): The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the 18-member National Women’s Under-21 and Youth Under-18 Hockey 5-a-side team for the upcoming international tournaments in Muscat, Oman.
The team was named following the selection by the PHF Selection Committee comprising Olympians Nasir Ali and Naeem Akhtar and the subsequent approval by PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani.
According to the Pakistan Hockey Federation, the Women’s Junior (U-21) AHF Cup will be held from July 12 to 18 while the U-18 Youth Hockey 5s Asia Cup will take place from July 20 to 25, 2026.
The selected squad includes: Goalkeepers: Maria Mehak (Sargodha), Khadija Latif (Gojra); Defenders: Rabeesha Parveen (Bahawalpur), Zulaira Sadaf (Sargodha), Laraib Parveen (Karachi), Javeria Resham (Bahawalpur), Sana Khalid (Gojra); Midfielders: Farwa Haider (Gojra), Saira Younis (Lahore), Shareen Fatima (Wah Cantt), Areeba Aslam (Wah Cantt), Iffat Zohra (Karachi), Laraib Abid (Bahawalpur); Strikers: Shariqa (Lahore), Sobia Afzal (Pak Wapda), Inaya Batool (Wah Cantt), Saliha Gulfam (Islamabad), Sehresh Kanwal (Pak Navy).
Team Officials: Team Manager: Miss Syeda Khanam (Education Department, Sindh); Coach: Miss Sehresh Arshad Ghumman (Pak Wapda); Team Physio: Dr. Sabyal Iftikhar PT.
According to the spokesperson of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, the squad is highly balanced and consists of talented players who delivered outstanding performances in the recent Prime Minister National Junior Women’s Hockey Championship held in Islamabad.
The Federation expressed its hope that the national women’s team will showcase its best game and bring laurels to the country in both events scheduled in Muscat.
