PESHAWAR, Jul 10 (APP): Four terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by police in the Khattak dam area of Karak district early Friday, police said.
According to Karak police, the operation was launched at around 5:00 a.m. on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
The operation was carried out jointly by police teams from Karak and Kohat districts. As the police moved in, the terrorists, armed with automatic weapons, opened fire on the raiding party, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
Police retaliated effectively, resulting in the killing of all four terrorists.
The terrorists were reportedly involved in the killing of several police officers and personnel in previous attacks.
Following the encounter, security forces launched a search operation and cordoned off the surrounding area to ensure no accomplices had escaped.
Authorities were also collecting further details to confirm the identities of the killed terrorists and verify their criminal records.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
