The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday seized and disposed of 14 maunds of unhygienic meat during a raid on an illegal slaughterhouse operating in a residential area of Sargodha.

SARGODHA, Jul 10 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday seized and disposed of 14 maunds of unhygienic meat during a raid on an illegal slaughterhouse operating in a residential area of Sargodha.
According to a PFA spokesperson,the action was taken on a tip-off at a house in Block 22 near Chandni Chowk, where an illegal slaughtering setup was allegedly being run.
A veterinary doctor accompanying the PFA team examined the meat and declared it unfit for human consumption after finding that the animals were sick and the meat had developed a foul smell.
The confiscated meat was shifted to a designated dumping site for scientific disposal while an FIR was registered against the suspects at the relevant police station.
The PFA officials urged citizens to report food safety violations through the authority’s 1223 helpline.
