MULTAN, Jul 09 (APP): The Horticulture Agency (HA) Multan has decided to launch an extensive tree plantation campaign across the city during July and August as part of its efforts to promote a greener and healthier urban environment.
Acting on the directions of Managing Director Horticulture Agency Syed Waseem Hassan, plantation work is already underway along the Multan Avenue corridor from Northern Bypass to Seho Chowk, where large numbers of shade trees are being planted on green belts and roadsides.
The plantation drive includes indigenous and shade-giving species such as Pilkan, Jatropha, Arjun and other suitable trees to enhance the city’s green cover and improve the urban ecosystem.
Syed Waseem Hassan said that a comprehensive strategy had been devised to take full advantage of the favourable weather conditions during July and August for large-scale plantation. He said the agency would focus on planting native and shade trees along green belts, road medians and other public spaces to ensure sustainable environmental benefits.
He urged philanthropists, corporate organisations and people from all walks of life to actively participate in the plantation campaign, saying that collective efforts were essential to combat climate challenges and improve the city’s environment.
