DC Inspects Flood Protection Bund, Orders Riverbank Erosion Assessment
GUJRAT, Jul 07 (APP):Deputy Commissioner(DC),Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi on Tuesday directed the Irrigation Department to assess ongoing riverbank erosion near Mouza Kot Ghulam and submit a report for further protective measures.
The DC issued the directions during her visit to the area,where she inspected the flood protection bund constructed last year to safeguard residents from flood threats.
According to officials,local residents appreciated the district administration for completing the bund on time,saying the project had reduced the risk of flood damage to the settlement.
The residents,however,pointed out that riverbank erosion was continuing at a location away from the populated area and called for the construction of an additional protection bund.
Following their concerns,the DC directed Executive Engineer Irrigation,Muhammad Faisal to conduct a technical assessment of the affected site and submit recommendations for necessary action.
