PESHAWAR, Jul 06 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority has launched a province-wide crackdown against the adulterated milk mafia, seizing and destroying thousands of litres of substandard milk during inspections across the province.
According to the Food Authority spokesperson, 3,500 litres of chemically adulterated milk were destroyed at the Rashakai Interchange in Mardan after laboratory tests confirmed it was unsafe for human consumption.
In Peshawar, authorities confiscated and destroyed 40 litres of water-adulterated milk and 300 kilograms of mislabelled ice cream. In Charsadda, another 30 litres of substandard milk and 150 kilograms of ice cream were seized and disposed of.
The spokesperson said fines were also imposed on the owners found involved in food adulteration and violations of food safety regulations, reaffirming the Food Authority’s commitment to ensuring the supply of safe and quality food to consumers across the province.
