UK-based Kashmiri declared proclaimed offender in AJK case over alleged false information

The legal proceedings have advanced against a United Kingdom-based Kashmiri, Ashiq Firdousi, who has been declared a proclaimed offender in a case involving allegations of spreading false information, disseminating misleading news and inciting public unrest, according to police officials.

MIRPUR (AJK) , Jul 6 (APP):The legal proceedings have advanced against a United Kingdom-based Kashmiri, Ashiq Firdousi, who has been declared a proclaimed offender in a case involving allegations of spreading false information, disseminating misleading news and inciting public unrest, according to police officials.
Police in Chakswari, Mirpur district has said  that after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered, the authorities made repeated attempts to arrest Firdousi. When the efforts failed because he could not be located, investigators obtained arrest warrants from a court .
The officials said the accused did not appear before the court despite the warrants. On July 3, 2026, the court issued a proclamation  and formally declared him a proclaimed offender.
The police said that if Firdousi continues to evade court proceedings, additional legal measures could follow in accordance with the law.
The police said said they remain committed to pursuing the case through all available legal channels.
