PESCO removes 23 illegal power connections in Dera operation
Dera Ismail Khan , Jul 05 (APP):The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) launched a grand anti-power theft operation in Dera Ismail Khan and removed 23 illegal direct electricity connections (kundas) in an effort to curb power theft and reduce feeder tripping.
The operation was conducted on the 11kV CRBC feeder under the special directives of PESCO Dera Circle Superintending Engineer Hizbullah Khan Mehsud and under the supervision of Acting Executive Engineer (Rural Division) Engineer Sanaullah Khan.
The raid was led by SDO Mandhran Sub-Division Engineer Irfanullah Khan, accompanied by Line Superintendent Sajjad Ahmad Marwat, Recovery In-charge Jahanzeb Khan, and other PESCO officials.
During the operation in Khawaj Khel Town, the team disconnected 23 illegal direct power connections and removed two low-tension (LT) wires that were being used for unauthorized electricity supply.
PESCO officials said that references had been forwarded to the Cantt Police Station for the registration of cases against those involved in electricity theft in accordance with the law.
Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Irfanullah Khan said the company would continue indiscriminate operations against power theft to reduce line losses, improve the reliability of the power distribution system and ensure better electricity supply to genuine consumers.
He urged consumers to obtain legal electricity connections instead of resorting to illegal means and called upon the public to help protect national resources by reporting incidents of electricity theft.
