OIC-COMSTECH, NCP conclude five-day advanced analytical instrumentation workshop

ISLAMABAD, Jul 03 (APP):A five-day hands-on training workshop on Advanced Analytical Instrumentation, jointly organized by OIC-COMSTECH and the National Centre for Physics (NCP), concluded at the COMSTECH Secretariat on Friday after equipping faculty members, researchers, scientists and PhD scholars from across Pakistan with practical skills in modern materials characterization and scientific analysis.
The workshop provided participants with theoretical and practical training in advanced analytical techniques, including X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Photoluminescence Spectroscopy (PL), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
The training covered instrument operation, sample preparation, data acquisition, visualization and interpretation, enabling participants to enhance their research capabilities through hands-on experience with modern scientific equipment.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, appreciated the experts from NCP for conducting the training and commended the active participation of researchers from across the country.
He said access to advanced scientific instrumentation, coupled with the skills to use it effectively, was essential for producing high-quality research and promoting innovation.
He reaffirmed COMSTECH’s commitment to strengthening scientific capacity and research excellence through collaboration with leading institutions.
At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates were distributed among the participants. The participants thanked OIC-COMSTECH and NCP for organizing the training, describing it as a valuable learning opportunity that enhanced their practical research skills and provided rare hands-on exposure to advanced analytical techniques under expert guidance.
