Rescue 1122 saves 16,487 people during June

FAISALABAD, Jul 03 (APP):Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to more than 13,800 emergency calls and rescued 16,487 people during June 2026.
District Emergency Officer (DEO) Engineer Ehtesham Wahla said that Rescue 1122 Control Room received 13,842 emergency calls during the last month. Rescue teams responded to 2,325 road traffic accidents, 9,392 medical emergencies, 200 fire incidents, 263 crime-related emergencies, 14 drowning incidents, 16 building collapse cases and 1,413 other miscellaneous emergencies.
Rescue 1122 also shifted 110 dead bodies from government hospitals to their homes with due respect and dignity while rescue teams also attended 102 calls involving birds and various animals.
He said that Rescue 1122 provided emergency assistance to a 16,487 affected persons during different incidents and out of them, 10,623 victims were administered first aid at the spot while 5,311 patients were shifted to various hospitals across the district after receiving initial medical treatment.
Total 553 people, however, lost their lives during different emergencies, he added.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Ehtesham Wahla urged people to adopt preventive measures in view of the prevailing heatwave and said that precaution remained the most effective protection against extreme heat.
He warned that continuously rising temperatures could pose serious health risks and advised people to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, drink plenty of water and other fluids to prevent dehydration, and ensure that children, elderly people and patients remained in cool and safe places.
He also appealed to the public to contact Rescue 1122 immediately if anyone showed symptoms of heatstroke or any other medical emergency so that timely assistance could be provided.
