UoS distributes Rs2.3m scholarships among 141 students

The University of Sargodha (UoS), in collaboration with the Zakat and Ushr Council Punjab, distributed scholarships worth Rs 2.3 million among 141 deserving students under the Ministry of Religious Affairs(MoRA) Scholarship Programme, here on Friday. 

SARGODHA, Jul 03 (APP): The University of Sargodha (UoS), in collaboration with the Zakat and Ushr Council Punjab, distributed scholarships worth Rs 2.3 million among 141 deserving students under the Ministry of Religious Affairs(MoRA) Scholarship Programme, here on Friday.
Chairman  Zakat and Ushr Council Punjab and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), Rana Munawar Ghous, was the chief guest at the cheque distribution ceremony. The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Director Academics Dr. Uzma Shahzadi, deans, directors, faculty members, and a large number of students.
Addressing the ceremony, Rana Munawar Ghous stated that the MORA Scholarship Program is an effective means for talented students facing financial difficulties to continue their education.
He said the Punjab government is committed to further expanding educational assistance for deserving students, adding that funds for this scholarship program would be doubled next year to benefit more students.
Vice Chancellor of University of Sargodha Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas remarked that higher education is the fundamental right of every talented and deserving student, and financial constraints should not be an obstacle in their academic journey.
He appreciated the continuous support of the Zakat and Ushr Council Punjab and welcomed the decision to issue the MoRA scholarship twice a year.
The Director Academics Dr. Uzma Shahzadi thanked the council and noted that the need-based financial aid is provided through a completely transparent procedure. She explained that the process includes interviews and document verification to ensure the assistance reaches the truly deserving students.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Rana Munawar Ghous and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas distributed the scholarship cheques among the students.
