BZU English Department to hold alumni reunion on July 7

MULTAN, Jul 03 (APP): The English Department of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) will host an alumni reunion on July 7, bringing together former students from across Pakistan and abroad for a day of reconnecting, networking and celebrating their association with the university.
The reunion will be held at the Jinnah Auditorium and is expected to attract a large number of alumni, marking the department’s first such gathering in six years.
The event is being organised under the leadership of Chairperson Dr Sanobra Rizwan with the support of faculty members, including Ms Fariha Munir, Dr Sadia and others. The initiative aims to strengthen ties between the university and its graduates while providing a platform for alumni to reconnect with former classmates and teachers.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zubair Iqbal, himself an alumnus of BZU, will attend the reunion as the chief guest.
“This reunion is more than a homecoming. It is an opportunity to celebrate our shared journey, reconnect with friends and teachers, and reaffirm our commitment to the university that shaped our lives,” Dr Sanobra Rizwan said. She added that a strong alumni network could contribute to academic excellence, student mentoring, research collaboration and the university’s future development.
The programme will feature interactive sessions, networking opportunities, cultural performances and reflections on the department’s and university’s journey over the years. Alumni will also have the opportunity to visit the department and witness the academic and infrastructural developments made by the university.
According to the organisers, alumni from different parts of the country are expected to attend the event. They expressed the hope that the reunion would not only revive old friendships but also pave the way for sustained alumni engagement.
Ms Fariha Munir said the English Department’s first alumni reunion was held in 1994 under the guidance of the late Dr Zafar Iqbal, with subsequent reunions organised periodically by the department and alumni.
