PTA concludes SATRC working group meeting on policy, regulation, services

ISLAMABAD, Jul 02 (APP): The two-day Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC) Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services concluded on Thursday.
Organised by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and hosted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the meeting brought together delegates from SATRC member administrations, the APT Secretariat, and stakeholders to strengthen regional cooperation on telecommunications policy and regulation.
The Working Group launched implementation of the SATRC Action Plan Phase X (SAP-X) by adopting work plans and Terms of Reference (ToRs) for three priority work items: regulation and harmonisation of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Short-Range Devices (SRDs), G5 readiness assessment and regional roadmap development, and a comparative study of telecommunications tariff structures across SATRC member countries.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Compliance & Enforcement), PTA and Chair of the SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services, appreciated the active participation and collaborative spirit of all delegates.
He stated that the successful finalization of work plans and questionnaires reflected the region’s collective commitment to addressing emerging regulatory challenges through knowledge sharing, harmonized approaches, and practical cooperation.
He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would contribute significantly to digital transformation and sustainable growth of the telecommunications sector across the SATRC region.
The meeting concluded with APT appreciating PTA for successfully hosting the event and acknowledging the valuable contributions of all participating administrations.
