KOHISTAN, Jul 02 (APP):The Upper Kohistan district administration Thursday has stepped up preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season by reviewing emergency response measures and strengthening coordination among government departments to tackle potential Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) incidents and other weather-related emergencies.
The meeting, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shakeel Akbar and attended by officials of all relevant line departments, assessed the district’s Early Warning System (EWS), inter-agency coordination, alert mechanisms and contingency plans to ensure an effective response to any emergency arising from heavy rainfall or GLOF-related incidents.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete their preparedness measures, enhance coordination among institutions and ensure the timely dissemination of early warning messages to both the relevant authorities and the public.
He also instructed officials to remain on high alert and maintain an active field presence to respond swiftly to any emergency.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents, stating that all available resources have been mobilized and close coordination is being maintained with the concerned departments to effectively deal with any potential emergency during the monsoon season.
