CDA chief, Bahraini envoy discuss embassy land, urban cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Jul 01 (APP): Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Sohail Ashraf, on Wednesday met Mohamed Ebrahim Mohamed Abdulqader to discuss bilateral cooperation, including the allocation of land for Bahrain’s embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave.

The two sides reviewed matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties between Pakistan and Bahrain.
Sohail Ashraf said Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with the brotherly Gulf nation, while the ambassador highlighted the long-standing historical, cultural and religious links between the two countries.
The envoy also appreciated the greenery and urban landscape of Islamabad.
During the meeting, the CDA chairman outlined the civic body’s efforts to address urban challenges, particularly those posed by climate change.
He said the authority was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against encroachments and illegal construction to protect the capital’s environment and aesthetics.
He added that public awareness campaigns were underway to discourage construction on natural water channels and drainage routes.
The two sides also discussed the proposed allocation of land for the Bahraini embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave.
Sohail Ashraf assured the ambassador of the CDA’s full cooperation in facilitating the process.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their commitment to expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest and enhancing city-level collaboration.
