RAWALPINDI, Jul 01 (APP): Local courts have awarded sentences to two convicts in separate cases, including life imprisonment to a murderer and nine years jail to a drug supplier.
In the first case, a court awarded life imprisonment to accused Haider for killing a citizen over a land dispute. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 1.0 million as compensation. The case was registered in September 2023 at Jatli Police Station.
In a separate case, the court sentenced accused Faizan to nine years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 100,000.0 for drug trafficking.
The accused was arrested in August 2024 after recovery of 1.45 kilograms of charas from his possession.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani appreciated the performance of SSP Investigation and the investigation and legal teams for securing the convictions.
He said strict measures were being taken to eliminate the menace of drugs and ensure justice in criminal cases.
