The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday sealed a spice production unit and destroyed more than four maunds of adulterated red chilli powder and one maund of coriander powder during a raid near 33 Phatak on Islamabad Link Road.

SARGODHA, Jul 01 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday sealed a spice production unit and destroyed more than four maunds of adulterated red chilli powder and one maund of coriander powder during a raid near 33 Phatak on Islamabad Link Road.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the action was taken after laboratory analysis of samples collected from the facility found them unfit for human consumption and in violation of mandatory food safety and quality standards.
The test reports revealed the presence of harmful artificial colors in the red chilli powder while the coriander powder was found to contain non-food-grade adulterants,posing potential health risks to consumers.
Following the laboratory findings,the PFA enforcement team sealed the production unit to prevent the distribution of the adulterated spices in the market.
The authority urged citizens to remain vigilant and report food adulteration and quality-related complaints through the PFA helpline 1223.
