ISLAMABAD, Jun 30 (APP):Saudi Arabia has showcased its rapidly expanding biotechnology sector and investment opportunities at the BIO International Convention in the United States, as part of efforts to strengthen global partnerships in life sciences and healthcare innovation.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), in collaboration with the U.S.-Saudi Business Council, hosted a meeting of biotechnology leaders on the sidelines of the convention in San Diego.
The meeting brought together biotechnology executives, researchers, investors and policymakers to discuss Saudi Arabia’s growing biotechnology ecosystem and promote the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit (RGMBS 2026), which will be held in Riyadh from September 14 to 16 in partnership with the Ministry of Investment.
SPA told APP that participants were briefed on KAIMRC’s plans for advancing cell and gene therapy, as well as the Kingdom’s latest achievements in biotechnology research, education and scientific infrastructure aimed at accelerating innovation and commercializing research outcomes.
Chief Executive Officer of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council Charles Hallab highlighted the significant opportunities for Saudi Arabia and the United States to expand cooperation in biotechnology, healthcare innovation and life sciences investment.
Hallab said initiatives such as the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit would strengthen collaboration among researchers, innovators, institutions and investors while supporting scientific advancement and improved healthcare outcomes in both countries.
The event offered international participants an opportunity to engage directly with Saudi stakeholders and explore investment and partnership opportunities in one of the Kingdom’s fastest-growing technology sectors under Vision 2030.
