Rain, windstorms likely in upper parts from Wednesday evening as heat, humidity persist

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday forecast very hot and humid weather in the country’s plain areas on Wednesday with chances of   rain-windstorms and thunderstorms in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and northeastern Balochistan during the evening or night.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 30 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday forecast very hot and humid weather in the country’s plain areas on Wednesday with chances of   rain-windstorms and thunderstorms in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and northeastern Balochistan during the evening or night.
According to the PMD, hot and dry weather is expected over most parts of the country on Wednesday, while very hot and very humid conditions are likely to prevail in the plains.
In Islamabad and adjoining areas, hot and humid weather is expected during the daytime, while rain-thundershowers accompanied by windstorms are likely during the evening and night.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts, with very humid conditions in the plains. Scattered rain-windstorms and thundershowers, with isolated heavy falls, are likely in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Nowshera, Charsadda, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu and Waziristan.
Punjab is likely to remain very hot and humid, while scattered rain-windstorms and thundershowers, with isolated heavy falls, are expected during the evening and night in Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Mianwali and Sargodha.
Mainly very hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of Sindh, while partly cloudy conditions are likely in coastal areas.
In Balochistan, hot weather is expected in most districts, while central districts are likely to experience very hot conditions. Rain-windstorms and thunderstorms may occur in Zhob, Sherani, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Harnai, Sibbi, Musakhel, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Khuzdar and adjoining areas.
Partly cloudy weather is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with rain-windstorms and thundershowers likely at isolated places. Isolated heavy rainfall may also occur in Kashmir.
During the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while very hot and humid conditions persisted over the plains. However, Khuzdar received 2 mm of rainfall.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded on Tuesday were 48 C in Nokkundi, 47 C in Dalbandin, and 46 C each in Sibbi and Dadu.
The minimum/maximum temperatures recorded in major cities were: Islamabad 30C/42C, Lahore 31C/42C, Karachi 29C/35C, Peshawar 30C/44C, Quetta 25C/42C, Gilgit 20C/43C, Muzaffarabad 24C/40C, Skardu 13C/37C, Murree 17C/27C and Faisalabad 31C/42C.
Multan recorded 29C/41C, while Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramulla recorded 22C/35C, 28C/36C, 12C/29C, 22C/34C, 23C/35C, 22C/34C and 23C/34C, respectively.
