ISLAMABAD, Jun 30 (APP):Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, on Tuesday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic collapse of the roof of a tuition centre building in Lahore’s Kahna area, which claimed the lives of several children and left many others injured.
Extending his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, Chairman Senate said that the heartbreaking tragedy has plunged the entire nation into mourning.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the departed children the highest place in His eternal mercy, elevate their ranks in the Hereafter, bless their families with patience and fortitude, and grant the injured a swift and complete recovery.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasised that strict enforcement of building safety standards and precautionary measures is essential to prevent such tragic incidents.
He urged the relevant authorities and regulatory institutions to conduct regular inspections of educational institutions and other public buildings, and to ensure timely implementation of effective safety measures to avert similar tragedies in the future.
The Chairman Senate further stated that safeguarding human lives is the foremost responsibility of the state and its institutions, stressing that every possible measure must be taken to protect citizens and ensure the safety of public infrastructure.
