Awareness Session on Workplace Harassment Act Held at Red Crescent Hospital Sukkur

The Provincial Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace [(PHWWP), Regional Office Sukkur, held its 12th awareness session on “The Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010” at Red Crescent Hospital here on Tuesday. 

SUKKUR, Jun 30 (APP): The Provincial Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace [(PHWWP), Regional Office Sukkur, held its 12th awareness session on “The Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010” at Red Crescent Hospital here on Tuesday.
The session aimed to educate healthcare professionals and administrative staff on legal protections, workplace responsibilities and complaint mechanisms under the Act.
Muhammad Iqbal Arain, Consultant, PHWWP Regional Office Sukkur and a retired District & Sessions Judge, delivered the keynote address. He explained key provisions of the law, including the formation and role of Inquiry Committees, procedures for filing harassment complaints, and penalties for offenders. He stressed that institutions must take active responsibility to ensure a safe and respectful work environment for women.
Earlier, Senior I.T. Officer Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah briefed participants on the Act’s background, objectives and the legal definition of workplace harassment. He said awareness was critical to preventing harassment and advancing women’s empowerment at work.
The session was attended by the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Hospital Administrator, doctors, nurses and administrative staff who took part in an interactive discussion.
Hospital management reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the Harassment Act in letter and spirit and maintaining a zero tolerance policy toward workplace harassment.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, where participants sought clarity on complaint procedures and legal safeguards under the Act.
