KARACHI, Jun 30 (APP): Iqra University Business School (IUBS) on Tuesday organised ECON FLIMORA 11.0 – Reimagining Economics Through Visualization, bringing together students, academics and industry professionals to promote innovative and practical learning of economics through visual storytelling.
Held at the Mini Auditorium of the university’s Main Campus, the event, sponsored by Faysal Funds, encouraged students to present business and economic concepts through short films, combining research, creativity, teamwork and communication skills.
More than 600 students from 14 sections participated in the initiative, producing 24 short videos on a range of business economics topics. The films demonstrated students’ ability to simplify complex economic concepts through engaging visual presentations.
The event was conceptualised by Head of Department Dr Ammar Ahmed Siddiqui and co-supervised by lecturer Nargis Noman. The judging panel comprised senior media professional and public relations expert Noman Shabbir, Tauseef Shah, Shawn Ivan, Dr Iffat Mughal and Mirza Naveed Baig.
Addressing the participants, Noman Shabbir praised the students for presenting economic issues through short films and said such initiatives make traditionally complex subjects more engaging while enhancing the overall learning experience. He stressed the need for educational institutions to adopt innovative teaching methods.
Following the evaluation, the Aggregate Demand Group secured first position and won a cash prize of Rs30,000. The Market Power Group and Exports Group claimed second and third positions, receiving cash prizes of Rs20,000 and Rs10,000, respectively.
Faculty members said the initiative reflected Iqra University’s commitment to experiential learning, academic excellence and industry-oriented education by fostering critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills among students.
