WASA resumes Shaheenabad road sewerage project after Ashura

SARGODHA, Jun 30 (APP): The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has resumed work on its major sewerage
project on Shaheen Abad Road immediately after Youm-e-Ashura, deploying heavy machinery and workers to accelerate construction.
Managing Director Rana Abu Bakar Imran said the agency was working round-the-clock to fulfill the vision of the Punjab chief minister by improving the city’s sewerage and drainage infrastructure, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.
He said work on mega sewerage lines, construction and rehabilitation of disposal stations, and measures
to ensure effective rainwater management were continuing according to schedule.
He said the multi-billion-rupee sewerage project, which has been under way in Sargodha for several months,
had reached an advanced stage, adding that roads and streets where sewerage lines have already been laid will be reconstructed soon to provide relief to residents affected during the construction period.
The MD said that, keeping the monsoon season in view, excavation for sewerage line installation would be limited to selected locations to ensure public safety and prevent accidents. “Full-scale work on the project would continue with greater intensity after the monsoon season”, he added.
He added that a new sewerage line would be laid from the Factory Area to 78 Pull on Shaheen Abad Road. The project is expected to benefit thousands of residents in Factory Area, Muhajir Camp, Chungi No. 12, Aasi Colony, Istiqlal Abad, Pakka Dera and several other surrounding localities by connecting their sewerage network to the main disposal system.
