HYDERABAD, Jun 29 (APP): A wanted robber involved in multiple criminal cases was killed in a encounter with Shaheed Benazirabad Police within the jurisdiction of B-Section Police Station.
According to police officials, the Station House Officer (SHO) of B-Section, along with his team, was on routine patrol when they found a group of armed suspects. Upon seeing the police, the suspects opened fire, police reported on Monday.
The police retaliated promptly, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the encounter, one suspect, identified as Aijaz Ali, son of Ali Khan Chandio, was killed, while his three accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
Police recovered illegal weapons from the possession of deceased. Police said that the killed suspect was involved in more than 16 criminal cases across various police stations in the district, including robbery, murder, attempted murder, and other serious offenses.
Initial investigations revealed that robber was also a key member of the gang involved in killing of martyred police constable Allah Dino Solangi. The body of the deceased was shifted to hospital for post-mortem after completion of legal formalities.
A search operation was underway in the area to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shaheed Benazirabad, Sameer Noor Channa, commended the Station House Officer and his team for their bravery and professional performance. He also announced cash rewards for police personnel involved in the operation, stating that justice for fallen officers would be ensured and criminals would not be spared.
