Kohat Police Recover Large Cache of Arms, Arrest Afghan National

Kohat Police recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from a passenger coach travelling from Hangu to Peshawar during a successful operation at the Kaghazai police checkpoint, officials said on Monday.

KOHAT, Jun 29 (APP): Kohat Police recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from a passenger coach travelling from Hangu to Peshawar during a successful operation at the Kaghazai police checkpoint, officials said on Monday.
According to police, the vehicle was intercepted and subjected to a thorough search, during which officers recovered 22 hand grenades, one rocket launcher, six mortar shells, 37 mortar rounds, one boaster and one mortar fuse concealed inside the coach.
During the operation, police arrested a suspect identified as Momin Khan, son of Mohammad Umar, an Afghan national, who was allegedly in possession of the recovered arms and ammunition. The seizure was made as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and prevent the movement of illegal weapons.
Police registered a case against the suspect at Cantt Police Station and launched further investigations to determine the origin, intended destination and possible use of the recovered weapons, as well as to identify any accomplices involved in the smuggling attempt.
