Court approves two-day physical remand of YouTuber Razi Tahir

ISLAMABAD, Jun 29 (APP): The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Monday handed YouTuber Razi Tahir over to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on a two-day physical remand in a case linked to controversial social media posts regarding an alleged meeting between the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and a former senior public figure.
The case was heard by Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah at the District and Sessions Court.
During the hearing, NCCIA investigators requested a three-day physical remand of the accused. The agency informed the court that further custody was required to conduct forensic examinations of Tahir’s mobile phone and other electronic devices allegedly connected to the investigation.
After hearing the arguments, the court approved a two-day physical remand instead of the three days sought by investigators. The magistrate directed the NCCIA to produce the accused before the court again on July 1 upon completion of the remand period.
According to the investigation agency, the examination of digital devices is considered an important part of the inquiry. Officials told the court that access to the devices would help determine the origin and circulation of the social media content under investigation.
Razi Tahir was arrested a day earlier after his pre-arrest bail application was rejected by the court. Following the dismissal of the bail plea, authorities took him into custody and presented him before the magistrate for remand proceedings.
The case was related to social media posts that allegedly discussed a meeting involving the PTI founder and a former senior personality. Investigators were examining the content and its online distribution as part of the ongoing inquiry.
