Budget 2026-27 not merely figures but roadmap for brighter future: Sharjeel

KARACHI, Jun 29 (APP): Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that the development and prosperity of Karachi along with the provision of basic amenities to its people, remain the top priorities of the Sindh government.
He said that more than Rs.100 billion has been allocated for Karachi in the 2026-27 budget.
According to a communique, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the funds allocated for Karachi will be utilized for water supply, drainage, the construction and rehabilitation of roads, and other public infrastructure and civic facilities.
He said that the Pakistan Peoples Party believes in the politics of practical service rather than slogans, and that addressing the problems faced by the people of Karachi is both the government’s responsibility and commitment.
He said that one of the biggest needs of Karachi’s residents is access to modern, safe, and dignified public transport, and that the government is fully aware of this requirement.
The Sindh government is taking historic steps to meet the city’s transportation needs, and 500 modern electric buses, along with double-decker buses, will soon be seen operating on the roads of Karachi.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that creating new employment opportunities is a key pillar of the Sindh government’s economic strategy. He added that the budget places special emphasis on securing a brighter future for the youth. Thousands of young people will benefit from new employment opportunities through industrial zones, development projects, transport initiatives, and major infrastructure schemes.
He further said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always centered its politics on the welfare of the common man, including workers, farmers, youth, and the middle class.
The Sindh government is utilizing its resources to improve the standard of living of the people by expanding employment opportunities and strengthening education, healthcare, and modern civic facilities.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that some elements attempt to project a negative image of Karachi in Sindh for political purposes. However, he said, the people themselves are witnessing ongoing development projects, improved public transport, infrastructure works, and public welfare initiatives.
He added that the people are well aware that, despite financial and other challenges, the Sindh government continues to prioritize public welfare and development.
He said that the 2026-27 budget is not merely a collection of figures, but a roadmap for practical progress toward a brighter future, greater employment opportunities, and a more prosperous Sindh.
