PU organizes awareness seminars on US scholarships

LAHORE, Jun 27 (APP): Punjab University (PU) Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) on Saturday organized two seminars on “Admissions, Scholarships and Research Grant Opportunities in the USA” and the “US Patent Application Process” to promote research, innovation and commercialization among faculty members, researchers and students.
Held at the seminar hall of the Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, the events were attended by Chairman Admission Committee Prof Dr Mahmood Saleem, President PIMME Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Shuja, Engr Maaz Mahmood of the Sudar Trade and Industrial Association, Lahore, Director ORIC Engr Prof Dr Aqil Inam, internationally renowned Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Central Michigan University, USA, Dr Waseem Haider, along with faculty members and students.
The seminars were organized on the directions of Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali to create awareness about higher education opportunities in the United States, international research funding and the US patent filing process.
Addressing the participants, Dr Waseem Haider delivered detailed presentations on admissions, scholarships, research grants and the patent application process in the United States. The sessions concluded with interactive question-and-answer discussions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Mahmood Saleem and Director ORIC Prof Dr Aqil Inam emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of research, innovation and commercialization at the university in collaboration with industry. They underscored the need for securing national and international research grants and increasing patent filings to strengthen academic and industrial linkages.
Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Shuja and Engr Maaz Mahmood also addressed the participants and appreciated ORIC’s efforts to promote research, innovation and commercialization at Punjab University.
