FAISALABAD/CHINIOT, Jun 26 (APP):Federal Minister for Board of Investment Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh on Friday hailed Chiniot for setting another shining example of peace, religious harmony, brotherhood and national unity
on Youm-e-Ashura and said peaceful and well-organized central Tazia procession
and all religious gatherings were ensured.
He expressed these views while talking to the media after attending the central Tazia procession outside his residence in Chiniot, where he also met mourners and procession organizers and reviewed security, administrative and public facilitation arrangements.
The federal minister said that the district administration, police, Rescue 1122 and all other relevant departments had implemented a coordinated strategy that resulted in the smooth, peaceful and disciplined observance of Youm-e-Ashura throughout the district.
He said that Chiniot had historically remained a symbol of religious tolerance, inter-sect harmony and mutual respect, where people belonging to different schools of thought observed Ashura every year with devotion, unity and a spirit of brotherhood.
He said that the district administration, police, Rescue 1122, local government institutions, health department, civil defense and other departments had performed their responsibilities in close coordination, ensuring effective security, cleanliness, uninterrupted traffic management, emergency medical services and other civic facilities along the procession routes.
He said that close cooperation between the public and state institutions remained a key to the successful management of such large religious gatherings. The Punjab government had issued clear directives for safeguarding lives and property of citizens, facilitating mourners and maintaining law & order while all concerned departments had implemented those instructions in letter and spirit, he added.
Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh also appreciated religious scholars of different schools of thought, spiritual leaders, peace committee members, social organizations, volunteers and citizens for demonstrating exemplary responsibility and cooperation in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram-ul-Haram.
He said Pakistan would continue its journey towards progress, stability and prosperity. The government is committed to accelerate public welfare and development initiatives to improve civic facilities and quality
of life, he added.
