Ashura procession held amid tight arrangements
KHANEWAL, Jun 26 (APP):The central 10th Muharram procession was taken out from Imambargah 11 Block in Khanewal on Friday amid comprehensive administrative,security and public service arrangements.
Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner(DC),Maliha Rashid, all civic departments remained active to facilitate mourners throughout the procession.
Cold drinking water and refreshments were made available at Sabeels, while teams of the Suthra Punjab Program and WASA sprayed rose-scented water along the route to help participants cope with the heat.
Portable washrooms were installed for the convenience of mourners, while Rescue 1122, Civil Defence,MEPCO, Sui Gas and other departments remained deployed in the field.
The Health Department established field hospitals and mobile clinics to provide immediate medical assistance, while Rescue 1122 ambulances accompanied the procession and remained on high alert for any emergency.
The DC said all relevant departments would continue performing their duties until the conclusion of the procession, adding that central and tehsil-level control rooms were continuously monitoring processions and Majalis across the district.
No untoward incident occurred till filing of the report.
