LAHORE, Jun 25 (APP):A delegation of Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab visited the Central Control Room of the Punjab Home department and met with Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the law and order situation and security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram, said a handout issued here on Thursday.
The delegation was led by the Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab Chairman Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori, while the Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, attended as a special participant. Other members of the delegation included Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi, Hafiz Muhammad Umar Madani, Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, Dr. Shafeeq Khan Pasruri, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Rashid, Dr. Hafiz Hassan Madani, Dr. Zulfiqar, and Zafar Abbas Khawaja.
The delegation reviewed the systems for live monitoring of 9th Muharram processions and religious gatherings (majalis), cyber patrolling, and security monitoring from the Punjab Home department’s Central Control Room.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi stated, “Punjab government is taking every possible measure to ensure that Muharram-ul-Haram passes peacefully.” He informed the delegation that more than 37,000 religious gatherings and over 9,000 processions across Punjab are being monitored live.
He said, “The Punjab Home department’s Central Control Room remains operational round the clock and continuously receives reports from across the province.” He added that foolproof security arrangements have been made for all religious gatherings and processions.
Appreciating the role of religious scholars, the Home Secretary said that respected ulema are playing a key role in maintaining peace and promoting the message of love, tolerance, and patience.
Muttahida Ulema Board Punjab Chairman Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori, stated, “The Board stands alongside the Punjab government in its efforts to promote unity among Muslims.” He said that religious scholars from all schools of thought serve as partners of the state in maintaining peace and fostering unity.
Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori further noted that before the beginning of Muharram-ul-Haram, the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and the Ulema’s “Peace Caravan” toured various parts of Punjab, spreading an effective message of inter-sect harmony, tolerance, unity, and brotherhood.
Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, paid tribute to the efforts of the Punjab Home Department and law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace during Muharram-ul-Haram. He stated that religious scholars are working side by side with law enforcement agencies to promote peace and stability.
He also remarked that the Punjab Home Department’s Cyber Patrolling Cell is taking effective action against sectarian and hate-based content on social media, which is contributing significantly to the maintenance of law and order.
At the conclusion of the visit, a special prayer was offered for Pakistan’s progress, security, prosperity and lasting peace.
