ICT admin arrests 29 violators during operations against encroachments on Tarnol GT Road

ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has intensified efforts to remove encroachments along Tarnol GT Road, resulting in the detention of 29 individuals during a recent operation.
Authorities said action was taken against people who had illegally occupied public spaces by parking heavy vehicles and taxis on roadsides and by storing construction and other materials on land belonging to the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
According to officials, the operation was carried out under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner Saddar as part of ongoing measures to clear public areas and improve traffic flow in the area. The administration stated that illegal parking of heavy transport vehicles and taxis had led to the occupation of public land, while the placement of materials on CDA property also violated regulations.
During the crackdown, a total of 29 individuals were taken into custody and shifted to a local police lockup for further legal proceedings. Officials said the operation aimed to restore public spaces and ensure that government land remained free from unauthorized use.
The administration noted that anti-encroachment activities would continue in different parts of the area and warned that violations of public land regulations would be dealt with under the law.
Authorities also appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration in efforts to eliminate encroachments. Citizens have been urged to avoid illegal occupation of roads, footpaths, and government land and to support initiatives intended to keep the city free of unauthorized structures and obstructions.
Officials said public cooperation was essential for maintaining access to roads and public spaces and ensuring compliance with civic regulations across the city.
