Governor assures support for jewellery business, promises action on Mohmand issues

PESHAWAR, Jun 24 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday assured representatives of the gems and jewellery sector and a delegation from Mohmand district that their concerns would be taken up with relevant authorities for timely resolution.
A delegation of the Sarafa, Goldsmiths, Gems and Jewellery Traders and Exporters Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, led by its president Amin Hussain Babar, called on the Governor and highlighted issues facing the gems and jewellery sector.
The delegation said that despite its vast potential, the sector had not received the attention it deserved and could significantly contribute to exports, revenue generation and employment opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possessed immense reserves of precious stones and mineral resources and that development of the gems and jewellery industry could help boost exports and create jobs.
He assured the delegation that their proposals and concerns would be taken up with relevant federal institutions and departments.
In a separate meeting, a representative delegation from Mohmand district led by Dr Alam Zeb Mohmand met the Governor. Pakistan Peoples Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha was also present.
The delegation apprised the Governor of various public issues, including prolonged and unscheduled power outages, reconstruction of Machni Bridge, lack of basic facilities in 25 villages, road infrastructure and other development-related matters.
Governor Kundi assured the delegation that their issues would be raised with the concerned departments.
He said a high-level meeting involving the TESCO chief executive officer, commissioner Peshawar, secretary PKHA and other relevant officials would be convened after Muharram to ensure practical measures for resolving electricity, road and bridge-related problems in the area.
