LAHORE, Jun 24 (APP):A high-level Pakistani food sector delegation from South Punjab, led by Coordinator to the Federal Tax Ombudsman Saif-ur-Rehman, will visit Iran next month to explore new avenues of investment, joint ventures and bilateral cooperation in the food industry.
Talking to a delegation of food exporters led by Abdur Rehman here on Wednesday, Saif-ur-Rehman said the visit aimed at strengthening economic ties between the two neighbouring Muslim countries and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in food processing and snack manufacturing.
He said enhanced collaboration between Pakistan and Iran could play a significant role in addressing regional food security challenges and ensuring sustainable food supplies for growing populations.
The delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with Iranian government officials, business leaders, chambers of commerce, investors and representatives of the food industry to identify opportunities for expanding trade and facilitating technology transfer.
Saif-ur-Rehman said discussions would focus on investment in value-added food products, cold-chain infrastructure, storage facilities and modern farming techniques. He added that both countries possessed immense potential in food production, which could be effectively utilized through strategic partnerships, innovation and knowledge sharing.
Expressing optimism about the outcome of the visit, he said the initiative would help pave the way for long-term cooperation, enhanced bilateral trade and joint ventures in the food sector, while contributing to efforts aimed at addressing the growing threat of food insecurity in the region.
