ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (APP):Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Wednesday said Pakistan’s regional diplomatic initiatives were producing positive outcomes, helping transform the country’s image into one associated with peace, stability and constructive dialogue on the global stage.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, he said the government’s prudent policies, coupled with close coordination between the civil and military leadership, had enabled Pakistan to emerge as a responsible and positive state in international affairs.
Highlighting the importance of peace in Balochistan, the defence minister said sustainable stability in the province was essential for boosting trade, investment and economic activity across the region. He noted that trade corridors, transit trade routes and transportation projects would not only strengthen the national economy but also bring direct economic benefits to the people of Balochistan, creating fresh opportunities for development and long-term stability.
Khawaja Asif said Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic engagement in recent months had significantly enhanced its international standing.
“Today, the international community views Pakistan as a country contributing to peace, reconciliation and regional stability,” he remarked.
The minister commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership, saying both had played a responsible and effective role in steering the country towards political, economic and constitutional stability.
He said the current leadership was pursuing a unified strategy aimed at addressing national challenges while keeping the country’s interests above all other considerations. According to him, the positive outcomes of coordination between civilian and military institutions were increasingly evident.
Responding to a question, Khawaja Asif observed that tensions and differences among state institutions in the past had adversely affected the country’s progress. He stressed that sustainable development, prosperity and stability required all institutions to work in harmony within their constitutional domains.
“Cooperation, coordination and mutual trust among institutions are vital for addressing national challenges and ensuring effective governance,” he said, adding that this approach was helping Pakistan navigate political and economic difficulties more effectively.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national progress, the defence minister said efforts would continue to promote political stability, economic growth and national unity, with the ultimate goal of making Pakistan a strong, stable and prosperous nation.
