ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (APP):Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on Wednesday praised the efforts of the National Assembly Secretariat, the Secretary, advisers, and all departments involved in the preparation of the federal budget, saying the process was completed efficiently and in a coordinated manner.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he extended appreciation to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, State Minister for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, their teams, and parliamentary staff for ensuring smooth handling of the budgetary process.
He said the House witnessed smooth proceedings due to the collective efforts of all institutions and officials involved.
Referring to the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he said the government held multiple rounds of engagement with stakeholders, including meetings in Muzaffarabad.
He said several proposals were put forward to address concerns, including review through political forums, parliamentary debate, and legal and constitutional references.
He said that certain groups associated with the protest movement did not accept the proposed options and instead adopted a disruptive course of action, leading to law-and-order challenges, loss of lives, and disruption of public life, including road blockages and suspension of business activity.
He added that the government’s position was that state authority had to be maintained in such circumstances, and that security institutions acted within their mandate.
He also alleged the involvement of external elements aiming to influence the electoral and constitutional process in the region.
The minister further said elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be held on schedule under constitutional provisions, rejecting any suggestion of delay.
He also maintained that several commitments made under earlier understandings had already been implemented, including public relief measures, subsidies, and administrative adjustments, and reiterated the government’s preference for continued dialogue and a peaceful resolution.
