ITP issues traffic plan for 8th Muharram procession from G-7 to G-6

ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Wednesday issued a traffic management plan for the 8th Muharram procession travelling from Sector G-7 to G-6 and advised commuters to use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
An ITP official told APP that the procession would commence from House No. 28-A, Sector G-7/3-4 near Inquiry Stop and proceed via 7th Avenue Bridge and Lal Quarters before concluding at an Imambargah in Sector G-6/2.
The official said special traffic arrangements had been put in place to ensure smooth movement of mourners and minimize inconvenience to road users during the procession.
According to the traffic plan, traffic diversions would be implemented at Potohar Plaza, Fazal-e-Haq Road, Street No. 224 in G-6, Iqbal Hall, 7th Avenue Loop, Post Office Service Road and Fazal-e-Haq Road U-turn.
Residents of G-7 travelling towards G-6 and Blue Area have been advised to use Jinnah Avenue and Fazal-e-Haq Road as alternate routes.
Similarly, residents of G-6 travelling towards Super Market F-6 may use the China Chowk Underpass during the procession.
The official said residents of G-7 heading towards Daman-e-Koh and Margalla Road should use 7th Avenue as an alternate route.
Motorists may also use Jinnah Avenue and Faisal Avenue to avoid delays and facilitate smooth traffic flow in the affected areas.
Citizens were requested to cooperate with traffic police personnel, use alternate routes and avoid unnecessary travel along the procession route.
Participants in the procession were advised to park their vehicles and motorcycles only in designated parking areas.
For further traffic updates and travel advisories, citizens may follow Islamabad Traffic Police social media platforms or tune in to FM 92.4, the official added.
