KP Govt allocates Rs400mln for CM’s discretionary fund: PA told

PESHAWAR, Jun 23 (APP):Adviser to the Chief Minister on Finance Muzammil Aslam informed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Tuesday that Rs400 million has been allocated for the discretionary fund of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi in the provincial budget for fiscal year 2026–27.
The clarification came during the provincial Assembly’s (PA) budget session after JUI lawmaker Rehana Ismail raised concerns over an increase in the Chief Minister’s discretionary powers.
Speaking in the House, Rehana Ismail stated that discretionary allocations for previous chief ministers had remained comparatively lower, citing allocations of Rs30 million for former Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Rs40 million for former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Rs500 million for former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
She claimed that budget documents reflected an allocation of Rs4.40 billion for the incumbent Chief Minister’s discretionary fund and questioned the increase.
Responding to the concerns, Adviser Finance Muzammil Aslam clarified that the amount of Rs4 billion had appeared in the budget documents due to an error and had subsequently been corrected.
He informed the House that the discretionary fund allocation for the current fiscal year had been fixed at Rs400 million.
Muzammil Aslam further stated that the discretionary fund allocation in the previous fiscal year stood at Rs500 million, adding that the current allocation represents a reduction compared to last year.
